Division Chief Justin Winkler started his firefighting career with the Eagle Fire Department in 1990 as a volunteer firefighter. In 1997, Justin earned his first career firefighting position with the Whitney Fire District, graduating from the Boise Fire Academy. In 1999, he accepted a full time position back with the Eagle Fire District and rose to the rank of Captain where he was heavily involved with training in the department and throughout the state for EST. In 2003, Justin accepted the position of firefighter with the City of Meridian. He has risen through the ranks, holding the positions of Firefighter, Engineer, Captain and currently Chief of Logistics.

Chief Winkler holds an Associate’s degree in Fire Service Technology and He is IFSAC certified to the Fire Officer I level.

In his spare time, Justin enjoys spending time with his family, working on his property, camping and fishing.
