Meridian’s Annual Trash or Treasure Event Open for Registration

MERIDIAN – The City of Meridian’s annual Trash or Treasure event has opened for registration. Designed to help divert items from the landfill, this community-wide event is scheduled for Saturday, May 4, 2024, and Sunday, May 5, 2024.

“The Trash or Treasure weekend is truly a community event. It’s great to see so many residents year after year helping keep items out of the landfill by reusing,” said Sayard Schultz, City of Meridian’s Solid Waste Coordinator.

During this event, registered residents can place clean, gently-used items at their curb; where fellow community members (Treasure Hunters) can search to find one-of-a-kind treasures. Once registered, your address will be added to an online treasure map, making it easy for Treasure Hunters to find participating homes.

If items remain unclaimed after the event, residents can consider donating them. A list of donation sites is available at meridiancity.org/donation-sites.

Registration for Trash or Treasure is available online at meridiancity.org/tort.

Streamlined Bulky Item Collection

For more flexibility, the City of Meridian has streamlined its bulky item collection program. This new year-round service eliminates the need for seasonal events like Spring Cleanup. Single-family households serviced by Republic Services can now schedule the collection of up to 10 free bulky items per year

“This year-round bulky item program will create flexibility in scheduling pickups when Meridian residents need it. No more stressing about missing the seasonal bulky item cleanups due to being out of town, said Konrad McDannel of Republic Services. We truly appreciate the collaboration between the City on developing this new service and are happy to report that the service is off to a smooth start. We are seeing great results.”
